Time after time, even in our own lives, we have seen the power of God, His call, and we are afraid to believe Him. God is always with us; it is His promise. For someone to believe, it takes not only time but also building trust in what our Lord is saying as He speaks to us. He is warning us or He wants us to just obey Him. He will never let us down.
In the book of Judges, chapter 6, Gideon is not different from what we sometimes are: unbelievers! "When the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon, he said 'The LORD is with you, mighty warrior.'" (Judges 6:12) Gideon truly did not believe it. He questioned the angel and had doubts about our Lord's will: "'Pardon me, my lord,' Gideon replied, 'but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.'" (Judges 6:15) Gideon asked for a sign and God gave him a sign through the angel, and "When Gideon realized that it was the angel of the LORD, he exclaimed, 'Alas, Sovereign LORD! I have seen the angel of the LORD face to face!'" (Judges 6:22) Once he truly believed, the Lord said, "'Peace! Do not be afraid. You are not going to die.'" (Judges 6:23)Growing in the Spirit of the Lord is to grow in believing from the heart in Him. The Lord says in Luke 1:37, "For no word from God will ever fail." Praise Him!
